Coqueta EP By Kinky

Kinky's explosive live show favourite 'Coqueta', the quirky animated video of which has been on heavy rotation at MTV Tr3s, is remixed by leading producers in the latin electronic genre - Nortec Collective's Panoptica, Dj Afro from the Venezuelan band Los Amigos Invisibles, and Nopal beat's Tovar. The result is 3 very different takes on the Kinky formula - from pumping brass infused rhythms to laid back acoustic guitar electronica.

The five-man Monterrey, Mexico based band – Gilberto Cerezo (vocals, guitar), Ulises Lozano (keyboards), Carlos Chairez (lead guitar), Cesar Pliego (bass) and Omar Gongora(drums) - exploded onto the international scene in the summer of 2000. Since then, the band has recorded three eclectic albums – Kinky (2002), Atlas (2003) and Reina (2006) - been nominated for three Grammy’s® , composed music for films and played countless gigs all over the planet in front of hundreds of thousands, inducing dance floor hysteria and winning legions of enthusiastic fans.

There most recent release, Rarities blends sounds that are contemporary and traditional, dynamic and contemplative, innovative and yet strangely familiar. The album was originally put out in the UK as a limited edition of 750 hand numbered copies, just for Kinky’s UK fans, but overwhelming positive feedback from the European press has prompted the band and Sonic360 to launch a new full scale release in the US and Canada. Rarities (UK Release) By Kinky

At long last KINKY have released a glittering selection of rare aural gems in this stunning compilation. “Rarities” brings you the previously unreleased and import-only songs that you’ve heard at the sensational live shows and at the movies, but have never been able to get your hands on – until now. It is released initially as a limited edition cd of 750, it’s pure gold dust; a must-have for all KINKY fans.

Included, are tracks such as “Coqueta” which made a guest appearance on the album “Diez” by Intocable and the much-loved “Selva Lombardi” originally written for their second album “Atlas”. The record also includes KINKY’s barnstorming cover of Tito Puente’s famous “Oye Come Va” (extended mix), which was featured on the Blockbuster movie “Man on Fire”. We’ve also added some rare remixes that may or may not have appeared on very limited edition vinyl releases, such as remixes by Money Mark, Lazy Boy, Capri and fellow Mexican artists Toy Selectah and Bostich. Featuring in the US Box Office smash ‘Man on Fire’ this freshly funked up Kinkyfied version of the Santana famed classic Oye Como Va received extensive coverage for Kinky fans worldwide to lap up! While the music video was played on MTV and music channels across Europe and the Radio Edit was playlisted on Radio 2, the remixes fired up the dancefloors of Ibiza all summer.

DJ Sneak adds a very signature sounding tough club mix to Kinky's latin flavoured house cut. The B side has the original album track plus an acapella version where you can listen to Gil alone reciting the poetic lyrics of the song so beautifully, it makes you melt! This limited edition vinyl was released through London/WEA/Sonic360 at the end of 2002 in UK only.

Cornman By Kinky

Everyday situations in Monterrey are portrayed with an enchanted light - such as the acrobatic vendor immortalised on 'Cornman', an old man who sings and does back flips to entice his customers to purchase his corn. Mexican producers Tovar, SLSS (Sistema Local) and Kinky Basselina have come up with some classic totally fresh-sounding deep house and ragga/cumbia remixes - a must-have for all DJs constantly looking for the next dancefloor killer tune to uplift the masses.
