This week on One on One, meet young Sudanese hip-hop singer and activist Emmanuel Jal. Aged only seven, he became a child soldier sent from Sudan to fight in Ethiopia's brutal war. Through a lot of luck and determination, he managed to turn his life around, becoming one of Africa's hottest music stars.

From a former child soldier driven by hatred to a successful hip-hop musician, it has been a long road for Emmanuel Jal. Most of his music relates to his traumatic childhood as a child soldier in south Sudan before he was smuggled out of the country by an aid worker. Now, based in London, Emmanuel is making a name for himself as a respected activist and anti-child soldier campaigner.
